I saw this and thought someone in a large tractor/engine club might be interested for their showgrounds. I have no connection to the ad.

Wow, that's a big compressor! I'll bet it has quite a bark when she's running. And heavy too!

You say it works well but is no longer needed as it has been replaced. Wonder if the replacement will still be working well in 80 years?

Was it replaced to get higher pressure? Or just fear of old equipment that would outlast the person replacing it?

Sure hate to see something like that go to scrap. That would be pretty cool to see in operation at a threshing show or something.

Believe it or not, but I was a design engineer at PPC (Pennsylvania Process Compressors) in the 1990's, they made a wide variety of custom compressors for many applications, but their main market was refinery's that needed to compressor nasty process gases. They would occasionally sell an air compressor in conjunction with the process compressors. They were very conservative designs that would operate for years with little or no maintenance. The company was disbanded in the middle 1990's, but I believe the rights and equipment was bought by another company for the parts business.
