f-20 not shutting off

:?: If anyone knows and can help me, I rebuilt my f-20 and put the big bore kit in it, runs great but i can't get it to shut off when I pull the retard lever up. Do I not have the timing quite right or? If anyone can help with this it will be appriciated thanks, brummettf-20.

The points cap need to come up to hit the little pin to kill the spark. Clean pin bright, Make sure points contact is clean and making contact with the pin. Check you linkage to see where it stops, If not all the way up tweak it some see if you can get it to max out at the top.

Will it shut off if you get off and manually push the lever/cap on the magneto as far up as it will go? The lever may not be pulling it up far enough to kill the spark.

If it still is running when you do that oldiron29 is probably correct in that something is not making contact and needs to be cleaned.

thanks oldiron29 I will give that a try, my dad had one all my young life and I watched him work on it but he never had the problem I have with mine so I didn't learn that part, thanks again
