Am I Whipped??

First real day of retirement, I made the bed and folded my pj?s, did a load of laundry and straightened up the kitchen. Now that it has warmed up going outside to finish up the weekend projects I didn?t complete on Sunday. Wanted to help the wife so she doesn?t come home to more work to do. Next I?ll try and have some dinner ready for her. She?ll wonder what I am up to. Do I look guilty?

When my wife sees me in the kitchen or laundry room...

It starts out with a hand on the hips stern stare.

Followed by "What are you doing?"

Then "I'll do it!"

"No, just don't..."

"Honey (which translates to dumb xxx)"

"Go back outside, leave it alone!!!"

Think I have developed a reputation.

See Jon F Todays Funny below! LOL

When you retire. You have to get yourself in to some thing to keep you going. Like a Hobby or some thing you have put off because you where working. I should know this because my mom came down with old timers. It was sad to watch a mother lose her memories and she could not do stuff she enjoyed. You have to keep your mind going Read, do hobbies, have a reason to get out of bed. I say that to my self know since I have been retired for a year. Good luck on your retirement.

To be technically correct; '...whipped' is a state you can be in BEFORE you are married. AFTER you are married it is technically 'Henpecked'.

Good job! Retiring.... I did a yr ago- busy as ever but for "me" now and getting more money than when I was working! No wife....so no one to tells what to do either....just a bit lonely at times. Make the best of it!

I do laundry and dishes every day. I drop my yesterday clothes in the hamper and put my dirty dishes in the dishwasher. That is as far as I am allowed to go with either.

I think you're on the right track. Make life a little easier for her, she won't be so anxious to join you at home full time. If you get my drift.

Steve ..... we must be married to sisters. In 49 years of marriage, the only time I got to do any laundry or dish washing or cooking was a few years back when momma broke a bone in her foot and was on crutches for quite some time. Oh, grocery shopping too, that was a lot of fun. Once she was back on her feet, I cleared out and haven't been back. Cleared out from those jobs that is, I still live in the house though.

You're setting the bar too high. Leave yourself room for improvement when it's not good enough anymore. Not to mention if word gets out that you do so much then the rest of us look bad.

the more you do....the more "she will" let you do or expect. Had a friend who got home from work a couple hours before his wife. So he always fixed supper and had it ready when she got home. One week she took off for vacation, he ofcourse thought she'd be fixing suppers, nope she was on vacation. gobble

I?m only allowed to do my laundry, grandson?s
Velcro tennies and the wife?s delicates don?t work. I
can do all my black, blue and camo colors in one
load.

I did the laundry one time right after I retired. She barely lets me walk past the washing machine now.

Wash a new red shirt with the whites. Last time for laundry.
Use your imagination and make up recipes according to what you think would be good. If she likes it you won't remember what you put in it.

Or dry one of here sweaters that isn't supposed to be machine dried, that will get you banned from the washer. Seriously thou, just enjoy your self!

One of the most important things....Don't forget your social life!!!
Find a coffee group or some such thing!! I once in a while go back to
my former work place and have coffee with my crew and laugh at them!!
There are 6-8 of us that meet at Micky D's almost daily. Someday's
we're the only ones there!! We think Micky D's should pay us because
of the entertainment we provide!!! But it a great bunch. And if someone is missing
there is genuine concern for them!!

Wife has a lot of problems that old age brings on so now I am doing all the shopping. Walmart built a bigger store in town so everything else has just about went out of business. Made the mistake of telling the wife who all I met at Walmart. No more.
