Bought a 601 parts tractor and in attempting to assess
the motor condition (parked outside 30+ years ago)
I pulled the plugs, Squirted ATF in cylinders, freed
stuck motor with extended breaker bar, and can
crank it now by fan blades. After many hand turnovers
I freed up the starter and tested compression.
0 0 20 0
Set up compressor with regulator and 2 female quick
connects with "T" to pressure gauge. Can apply compressor
to setup and gauge holds fine. Connect 'T' setup to cylinder
with valves at TDC and push rods loose and as soon as
I remove air hose the pressure drops to 0.
I attached nitryl gloves to exhaust and carb and taped on
gloves. With pressure applied and turning over by hand
the gloves puff up when valves open.
At TDC the gloves do not puff up but I am loosing
all pressure. I suspect rings or some other head leakage
but am unable to detect air in crankcase.
This happens even with new ATF applied to cylinder tops.

I do not need the engine for my running 801
