You don't see adds like this anymore. Have shootings gone down because of the absence of adds like this?---Tee

I've always thought it should be illegal to make a toy gun that's a carbon copy of the real thing, or at least have a chartreuse stripe or some way to easily identify them as a toy.

Had a battery powered water gun when I was a kid. Looked just like an Uzi except the muzzle was painted red. Very realistic looking !

Sixty plus years ago up here, in the spring (which was for some reason water pistol season), I was in the Princess Theatre watching the Saturday afternoon double feature. Kids were using their water pistols, especially from the balcony, shooting streams of water down on those below, but a lot of it going on for the main floor as well. Anyways, the manager shuts the show down, has the ushers walk up and down the aisles with a cardboard box, you had to voluntarily surrender your pistol or he was going to clear the place out. So turned in my pistol, and after the show, his promise of returning all the guns somehow never happened .... ha! I thought it would have been a good time to trade mine in on a better model! Good thing I didn't tell my dad, he would have kicked my butt for taking my gun to the movie theatre .... yup, things have certainly changed.

Slices of toast, a newspaper, squirt gun filled with water, etc. It's a hoot! Audience participation at its best.

(quoted from post at 09:52:20 11/18/17) You could not get a real one then, maybe that is something.

What? Yea, you could get an AR15 in 1959, 4 years before the US Army bought the military version M16.

The theory that doing away with ads like that would reduce violence didn't work. The rates kept climbing until they leveled off during the 80's. The "assault weapon ban" did nothing to reduce violence either. At the time enacted less than 1% of violent crime was committed with that type weapon.

I remember when the M16 toy rifles were first on the market. I was kid. I thought they were pretty cool.

I got the Lucas McCain plastic rifle for Christmas when I was nine. The plastic bullets ejected out of the side of the rifle as fast as you could work the lever. Wow it was neat.

The shootttings will continue because some people are controlled by the devillle.
I was glad to hear that the neighbor got three bulllllets into the Texas church shoottter and he used the same kind of rifffle, otherwise he might have killlled even more people. I bet a lot of people are beginning to start carrying which should stop some of these mass killlllings.

I read that some poltik person said the guy that took down the church shoter should be charged with murdr, refered to him as a ammosexual, luv it!!

Been carrying daily for more than 5 years now. I pray I'll never need it, but it's there if I do.

Thinking seriously now about building another AR pistol for myself (first one was built for the wife). Being a pistol it's legal to keep in the truck, ready to go with a loaded mag, where an actual rifle can't be carried that way.

Funny how arbitrary, and in many cases plain out idiotic most gun laws are. It just goes to show that most making the laws have no clue about anything gun related except that they have been told certain ones are evil.

Anyone see the guy on TV the other night going on about those deadly 50 caliber bullets? I guess those monster sized bullets fueled their desire to control muzzle loaders because some mfg was wanting to put 'silencers' on them, making them a candidate for future mass shootings..... What an idiot,

The shootings will continue because mommies raise their little girls and boys to think that the world revolves around them. They constantly teach them that they should esteem themselves above others. Which is directly counter to the Bible. They go out in the world and people mistreat them, (so they think), and eventually many go off the deep end and retaliate. It's all about the self esteem movement, and not raising ones kids.
