Life Line Screening

Anybody have this done? Did they find something that normal exam didnt find? Have a family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high ldl & taking cholesterol medicine(simvasatin).

FWIW, a friend in his late 60's had one several years ago, including some ultrasound of arteries, got a pretty good report, and died of a massive heart attack less than a year later.

Had it done twice. Both times they got excited about an irregular heartbeat and told me to make an appointment with my doctor. Doctor ran me through the tests and told me my irregular heartbeat is not the bad kind. He then kind of mumbled his displeasure for Life line Screening, but that was only his opinion. I don't think Lifeline screening is a bad thing at all.

I've always been told if you can't say anything good then don't say anything at all./ That's my story and I'm sticking to it about Life Screening.

Wife and I had ours a couple of years ago.

My opinion is that it's good for folks who don't have regular doc visits.

We don't plan to repeat.

I never had it done but it might not be a bad idea. About three or four years ago I had some back X rays followed by an MRI, who ever read the x-rays said I may have a bulge on my abdominal aorta, got that checked out and they found a lot worse aneurysms in my iliac arteries so they said I needed surgery quick or my back problems wouldn't matter. Two years ago tomorrow I had 5 stents put in, a very painful SOB but was better than the alternative the doctors claimed would of been any day now.

I have an irregular heartbeat, too. It was first pointed out to me when I was in the Marine Corps. The doctor said then that as long as it keeps the same cadence, it's nothing to worry about. That was 64 years ago.

Every once in a while a doctor will pick up on it nowadays and go ape.

My wife and I had one ten years ago. They found I had an AAA (abdominal aorta aneurysm).
Took the results to my doctor, who sent me to have a MRI that verified the size and also alerted the doctor to keep an eye on it. It finally got big enough that I had to have it repaired last year.
Second screening, they found that my left carotid artery was 95% blocked. Doctor did an MRI and I had that fixed.

We have had four screenings over the years.
