Finally got the cam drive gear off the crankshaft. BIL brought over his 11 inch T-bar puller, put vice grips on the T-Bar and cheater on wrench. I didn't think it was going to brake loose, but it finally did and came of hard all the way. Yahoo it's off, so now I can take it to machine shop and get it tuned.

Thanks everyone for suggestions

I agree with Stan, heat it up before going back on.

If using a press, support the crank behind the front main. Or draw it on with a sleeve and all thread.

Get yourself a cheap electric skillet, place gear in with enough oil to cover the gear and take it up to 290 degrees. Then with a pair of channel lock pliers, some heavy gloves and a driver to make sure its on, will be safer and easier than your press.

I agree - hot oil works good. Saves a lot of beating and banging and possible damage.

How do you figure it would be safer, all one has to do is place support under first throw, put the driver over end of crank and press gear back on, This way your not stressing the crank shaft. Your applying straight even pressure, instead of sharp blows with hammer or other device to drive the gear back on. Now why would I do all this work to re-install gear when I have a press sitting here to do the work the proper way, and not putting stress fractures in the crankshaft by beating on the end of it..

Besides John Deere shop manual calls for it to be pressed back on, since I have the tools, I guess I will press it back on like manual says.

Thanks
Keith
