Delco 30Mt starter

I have a 30MT on a Case 830 Is it possible to change the solenoid without pulling the starter? I removed the four bolts and the wires but when I went to pull it out the plunger wouldn't come out.

Just a thought but there are no name clones of the Delco starters out there that are rather reasonable for price. Could replace the whole starter with something like the MT39 that will crank the 830 at 20F like the MT30 cranked at 70F.http://www.delcoremy.com/Starters/Find-by-Model-Family/39MT-Gear-Reduction-Starter

Take a screw driver and push the rubber boot off the solenoid body while your pulling on the solenoid, that is probably whats holding it. As a side note I agree with buickdeere an putting a different starter on it. I am putting a leece- Neville m105602 starter on my 801-b, and getting rid of the 30mt that's on it, it does good in warm weather but not so much when it gets into fall and winter. jstpa

Thanks for the info, The starter was just rebuilt before I bought the tractor. was working good but then it would engage the drive but not the motor probably the washer is corroded. I am presently making a new wiring harness for it and redoing the bushings in the steering column.
John Saeli has been a big help.

Just wanted to let you know I hooked up that new starter at lunch time, and I think I'm going to wish I had done it years ago. I rebuild starters and alternators for a living and had done that 30mt just a year or 2 ago. This new starter is heads and tails better from what I can tell on the first start or 2. jstpa
