What is it?

Got this out of a junk box. First glance I thought it was part of a sewing machine or something like that, but looking close it is some sort of tool or jig.
About six inches long, that pin fits in four different holes. The knurled knobs all adjust for some clamping action. The front section pivots 180
Any Ideas?

It might be a "go"--- "no go" gauge. Used to determine if a metal stamping or a machined part meets specifications.

They usually have some type of identification stamped on them though, indicating what part it checks.

That thought went through my mind. I can see it, but what does the pin on the chain do?
