What a nightmare....After 5 days in ICU,Susan was transferred to the 'floor' Sunday evening.she made such remarkable recovery they were going to release Tuesday. However, there was a drug they needed to see 'in our hands' before release. So,I walked a mile to a pharmacy, the drug was not in stock! It was ordered, came in weds at noon. I walked back, picked it up. The drug(highpowered antibiotic)cost $1700. But the hospital got a discount coupon. We only pd $102.00!. Then they forgot about insulin needs.Took them till 5:00 to get that straightened out. Got to my sister's at 7:00 PMWed. The next day,our ride home broke down 20 miles before we were picked up. It was towed to the dealer. Our friend/driver was forced to stay. At 10:00 the next day(Friday) the car had not even been looked at. So Another friend came over and picked us all up. We got to BuenaVista,Co at 6PM.Wifes sister picked us up at BV and took us to Gunnison. FINALLY,we got home at 10:00AM Saturday. We were only going to be gone 4 days total. We were gone 12 days. But thank god I stillhave her. There doesn't to be any brain damage at all. "Be it ever so crumbled, there is no place like home" (Charles Emerson WinchesterIII) Amen to that! Thanks for all the prayers and concerns. Steve & Susan.

More...... I was able to come up to my familys Saturday thru Sunday while Susan's sister was there. I was supposed to go back down on Sunday. But due to curcumstances beyond our control, was not able to get back till Tuesday. I rode the bus Tuesday morning From FtCollins ,where a cousin picked me up Denver Union Station and took me to the hospital. The bus ticket was $7.50.I insterted a 20 dollar bill into the machine. When I inquired about change, I was then told they don't give change. Only a "voucher". needless to say,I was not happy.I gave the voucher to my sister. Maybe someone can use it.Would have been nice if there had been a sign/notice advising "No change Given".But,Praise God we are home! Everything seems to be in order at home. And the neighbor did a great job of careing for things.

Sorry to hear that it turned into such a prolonged ordeal. I hope Susan's recovery is complete.

Sometimes reality forces a family to play the tune by improvising. You and Susan are good at it. Keep your spirits healthy and you will be healthy to. Jim/Prescott

Happy to know you two made it home safe and sound. We really need each other in these times to look out for and advocate for each other, especially in times of medical distress. Hope Susan continues to do well.
I seem to recall you and Susan have a son who is or was in the Navy. Thank him for his service and let him know people beyond family care.

Delta Red and Susan,
Glad you're both home and things are looking positive.

Will keep Susan on 'my list' for a while longer.

That is good news. Seems like the more planning goes into something, the bigger ordeal it turns into.
