23 degrees today

Spent the day leveling fill on sugarbush roads today. Jeff loaded and hauled, I ran the dozer. Got the road about done. Got two culverts to put in yet and we will call it quits for this year. Won't have a 4WD around to gather with next spring, so it was imperative we get this done. Wasn't that bad working in the woods out of the wind. Sure beats working in 85 degree weather and fighting the stinking bugs.

Out here in the relatively barren plains of Northwest Iowa we had a pretty stiff breeze blowing 26 degree humid air into us. Glad you enjoyed the day. There is something about moving dirt that we outdoors people like.

Mid 20's here today dealing with the distributor freezing 80 feet up on the grain leg.
I hate drying corn in freezing weather.

I'm liking the cold weather. Trying to pick ear corn in a wet field. With the cold the field is froze just enough. It only took three hours to thaw the picker that was caked in mud and another hour to start and make the tractor run with gelled fuel. I really wasn't ready for it to be sooo cold.

I do enjoy road building. Since we decided to get into the maple syrup thing a few years back, there's several years worth of road building to do yet. Could do it all in one summer if others things didn't keep getting in the way. But then who involved in any form a agriculture doesn't have other things getting in the way????? (smile)
