Heifer likes her pen!

This heifer is getting too big for her pen so I moved her out into a group pen yesterday. A few hours later I found her running around the barn. She squeezed herself under a gate to get out. Soo I put her back. About an hour later lone behold she got out again and since her old pen gate wasn't tied shut she went back in her pen! I guess she's happier there than I thought and will leave her awhile longer in her pen lol.

if they can get their head under a gate they can almost always squeeze thru. Unbelievable til you see it.

Cattle never seem to cease to amaze me. We had a heifer one time we took out of the yearling pen and put with the cows to get bred, she got bred then made her way back into the yearling pen. I could not understand what was better in there as to it is a feed lot and no pasture, where with the cows she had space to roam and graze. We took her back out and then she jumped back in. So we left her in there until she had her calf, well she had twins in there, then she could stay with the cows. She was actually half Hereford, so when she came bulling instead of using AI we just loaded her up and took her down the road to the beef cows to get bred by the bull. Never had to load her back up cause she would jump the fence and run back home by herself after getting what she wanted of course. LOL

Lol yup, last summer we took our heifers to pasture across the road next morning half of them were home roaming around the yard. Took them back down again after fixing the fence and again they came back so we just said fine and let them in a pen with pasture access lol.
