What are they, and what should they look like?

I have a client that wants these sand blasted and painted for yard art. I'd like the communities help identifying what they are, and how they should be painted. The Cat Tractor is fairly obvious, but the details aren't, for example, should the lettering be blacked out?

The plow he just want's John Deere green with yellow wheels, but if it's not a JD, then that's a little...wrong. He may not care, but I'd like to know at least.

Awwwww! Lemme talk to 'em... RUST makes great yard art and the greenery of flowers and shrubs looks great next to it. LOL

Paint on yardart is just gonna fade and peel. :(

I agree! Much more interesting in a natural. rust patina.

If you use cheap enamel from Tractor Supply, yeah it will. Use a quality DTM Polyurethane like Imron 3.1 HG-D+ and it'll last a long, long time.

Besides, my job is to make my customer happy, not argue with him.

(quoted from post at 10:39:32 10/22/17) That's a lot of sandblasting for yard art!!

I could do both pieces in less than or about 8 hours, it's not too bad with the right gear.

Sand blasting a pair of hay trailers, under and out...that's a lot of back breaking sandblasting...

Maybe scroll through these for some ideas.

I've tried all that, for example;

Without knowing more detail about what it is, what year, model, or even something in the ballpark of year and model, then I'm just looking feeling around in the dark.

I'm just hoping someone on here might be able to recognize it and chime in, I don't expect anyone to do my research for me.

The plow casting should have the letters JD cast in if it's John Deere.

Much be in the central valley of California based on how the buildings in the background look. Who can afford such big stuff for yard art?
Tractor fire had to be a mighty hot one. (how do you spell scorcher - score cher - I don't know - lol )

I did find a casting on the plow, but it was so rusty I couldn't make any of it out, might have better luck once I blast it.

And yep, Central Northern Cali, and my client can afford it ;)

Scorcher is what the weather is usually like in NorCal, so I approve of the spelling.

"If you use cheap enamel from Tractor Supply, yeah it will."

If used without the proper hardener, it will fade quickly.
Peel? That is a matter of surface preparation.

Nothing, including Imron, will out-do/outlast the shine of properly applied
Lacquer though. A quick walk through an old junk yard will prove it.

Of course, most of us, including me, do not want to invest that
much time or effort to properly apply Lacquer anymore.

It is surely the deepest shine I've ever seen in all the years I've been
painting. That stuff probably isn't even available in Cali anymore.
I can get it here in Michigan, but it certainly isn't "stocked".
And no, those spray cans that claim to be Lacquer don't count. :)

As to the plow, might be Deere. Any marks on the gearbox?
