Good Ol Boys forum

A While back, a lively discussion was held here about Tractor TALK ,. getting beyond tractors andsuch ,.. MOst Of Us Agree that we just flip thru, and if it is of no interest we move on to another thread ,. kinda like popups vn the computer. ,..but just in case that split would become reality,.and" tractor tales "dont fit ,.i like the term i saw below ,. rename tractor tales to "THE Good Ol BOYs Forum " or create a new box , this could work for all sorts of health , wife, children family life ,motorcycle riding and neighbor complaints about anything . ,. NOt that this forum needs improving ,..I like it just fine , but i know a lot of Great teachers in my past during "Class Discusion Time " that would rap on the desk and say " Hey ,That topic dont belong here" .. . just thinkin ,. .

I personally like all of the "off topic" discussion on Tractor Talk. I enjoy reading about cows and washing machines and chemo and brothers in law interspersed with engines and oil and combines. It doesn't take very long to scroll past things that don't interest me. It is a little bit of trouble to go find the Tractor Tales forum. Anyway, if I had my druthers, I would keep the mix.

I've only heard the term "good old boys" used in a derogatory sense. As in "good ol' boys network".

I'll also note for the record that we have a few female posters, which your proposed name would seem to exclude.

Call me an old phart if you like, but don't call me a good ole boy.

I think it's working pretty well as is.
Click on the link and look at the post counts of the various boards. Tractor talk has nearly double the # of posts of the next two highest - Farmall and Ford N forums.
Yes, occasionally there is a gripe about this place not being more about tractors. But the evidence (post count) shows it's the most popular forum on the whole site. By far.

Hi, I just scroll through both but I guess 'talk' and 'tales' are there for a reason otherwise you could do without one. Ed Will Oliver BC

It seems tractor talk gets around 20 new topics per day. It really is not that hard to quickly scan through that many topics and pick your interests. If it was 100 new topics per day than that is a different story. If the forums get broken down too much you will only get a couple new posts per day on each one. I won't spend the time to look at each new forum. As it is I only look at 4 or 5 forums on a regular basis.

I think the real reason that the discussion topics have become so varied is that not too many people are still restoring old tractors. When I started reading this site 20 years ago there was a continuous stream of posts related to someone's restoration project. Without new projects to talk about we need to talk about something else. I like Farmalls and I remember the Farmall forum having 20 plus new topics each day. Now the Farmall forum is getting less than 10 new topics per day.

You forgot health issues, health insurance, car and home insurance, cars and homes, electrical and plumbing problems, legal advice, the neighbor's fence, the neighbor's wife, the neighbor's kids, hair length, teachers, preachers, lazy government workers, church, unemployment, ATV invasions, red necks, illegal immigration, legal immigration, religion, and finally people looking, thinking, and/or dressing different. And the list goes on and on and on. Did I miss any? All in the spirit of "Tractor Talk".

LOL ..I Think You mist a L ot!,. C -Horse LOL ,.. But you tried to hit most of Em Anyways ,,. Loox like some folx in some parts of the country dont like the GOOD oL Boy status ,,.. I think there are already plenty of other websites for that type of discussion, no need to add one here.

I've heard it said many times "If not for good old girls there wouldn't be any good old boys".Take it any way you like>

Miss Kim could fix this by inserting a comma and two words into the description of the TT forum.
Right now it reads:
"A general discussion group focusing on any theme related to tractors."

She could change it to: "A discussion group focusing on any theme, [i:654c4848f0]including those[/i:654c4848f0] related to tractors."
