Started putting things down for the winter.

It was 82 today, supposed to be in the 30s by next weekend.

I got started on the fall ritual, dumped seafoam in everything, run them long enough to get warmed up good then put them away. I will drain the carburetors where I can, will count on the seafoam being in the gas on the fuel injected ones. The play tractors, 44 and H are done, I still have to clean up my 6610, change oil on it, put blade and heat houser on, but will wait a couple weeks for that. I would assume the mowers will be used another month to clean up leaves.

I am not changing the oil on play tractors every year, they only get 10-20 hours.

I'm doing the same here with my gas equipment...and putting rv antifreeze in all my sprayers and pressure washer.....yep its that time of year...got 2 riding mowers to get the decks off and clean up and spray fluid film on the under side, for winter...I think were done mowing grass this year, right? lol

I use my mower to mulch up the leaves, then sweep with garden tractor, so will use them at least another month.

Yeah,i am keeping 1 riding mower ready until leaves are on the ground also....hopefully i'll get a strong south wind to blow then out in our soybeen field across the road..like last year..lol

I went in for Sta Bil, parts people told me they had problems with it, sell the sea foam now.

Guess we will see in the spring.

My Son is hoping we get the wood up, then it's preperation winterizing equiptment.Snow is in he forcast for next week hope the experts got it wrong. The lawn vac is in the garage waiting for the shaft and new motor,so until the parts arrive the leaves will be leaf blown and out of the lawn. Lots o do around here.Hoping it gets done,as my Son is wearing down. Regards Lou & Victor

If I had a pressure washer I would wash the deck and spray it with drain oil. Will need to hand scrape it though. Put a sharp set of blades on, and ready for spring. Now all of this is after I run around my yard with the trac vac for all of the leaves. That is first. Nothing like having one of those giant vacuum cleaners!

I used Sta-bil( good for 2years) for many years and gas smelt old just setting over winter . I went to Briggs & Stratton fuel stabilizer which is good for three years and contains no alcohol and combats the effects of ethanol. I run it in all my equipment all year round. Sea foam does contain alcohol.

Yes I agree the 'big vac' is great.. I am 75 and raking is too much. This is my first fall with a trailer/vac. Will save much time, so I can properly prepare my tractors for the winter.

I don't change oil every year either as like you I don't put that many hours on it.
My little 3000 diesel is easy to prep for winter.
I open the shed door where it sits and see if it's still there.
Yep.
Ok, Done :)

I put tractors in the shed for winter and took the battery cables off the ones that I won't be using. I haven't used sta-bil in quite a few years, I put some sea foam in the gas ones and have yet to have any trouble starting in spring. One other thing I have to do is put winter windshield washer fluid in truck, car and Kubota, seems like that is always something I forget till the fluid is trying to freeze up. I bought it Friday so now all I have to do is remember to put it in.

NW Al. Rain is coming and so is cooler weather, low 80's on Sat and down to 60 on Wed with overnight lows in the 30's.

I had a bad experience with "red" sta-bil as it is NOT compatible with ethanol. Somehow it forms little tiny balls of a gel type and plugs those tiny holes in the carburetor. Sta-bil makes a blue product, but the seafoam just does more and even works in diesel. I add it to the tank on my JD 4300 late fall to deal with any water that may be in the summer fuel. Never had an issue with seafoam.

We had a dry summer in the Pacific NW, lawns all died down. Went on vacation Oct. 3, came back yesterday, its been raining but no killing frost yet, so the lawn is 3 inches tall- supposed to quit raining tomorrow, so will mow it about Wed. or so- Don't have to schedule as close for that kind of stuff now, as I have RETIRED! Frosts have been coming later and later, so common now to mow through November, then start up again in March. Thank heaven for zero turns!

Wow, guys. Global warming has hit the SW desert harder than you. I haven't had to whack a weed since early August, no rain to grow 'em. We used to get first frost on Halloween, like clockwork; no more. It's supposed to be 97 tomorrow and Teusday. We rarely have anything you guys would call winter, couple light snows maybe, so not much winterization is required. Antifreeze is more for corrosion protection than freeze, tho' we do expect a couple weeks late January/early February of 15-20 degree lows. I need to repair some skirting on the house, wrap a couple pipes, that's about it this year. Tractor gets used year-round just like the cars. Oh yes, clear plastic on the leaky old windows. But not for at least another month, maybe two; we'll need AC in the daytime for at least another couple weeks.
