Pulling disc with JD 401

I hooked up my 8 ft disc to my JD 401 Industrial, just to see what it would do. It has the power, but even with large tires all it did was dig in. The ground was fairly soft. I don't have filled tires, because I don't need it for mowing. Does filled tires make that much difference? Stan

Sometimes you a set of cast weights can be found for reasonable . Preferred over liquid ballast if possible .

Do you have L/D lever under seat set in L or L/D setting?

If has R4 tires dont have to good traction anyway so adding weight will help.

Does it have industrial tires with wide lugs to float over soft ground or does it have ag tires with narrow lugs to penetrate and grip soft ground? Ballast will help, but ag (R-1 ?) tires will help more. If your industrial tractor has a loader, that will pull some weight off the rear axle.

And I prefer liquid over cast but probably would have both.
