Hello everyone, I just found this site in a google search. I do hope you all can help me out. In March of this year my father passed of esophageal cancer. Although a tough thing to deal with I try to find the positive in things. My Dad was in the mist of restoring a 9N, (still not sure of the year). We were offered $500 dollars for the tractor and call me sentimental, I couldn't let it go for that. SOOO I have trailered it home from Maine to NH and I am committed in finishing what he started. I am so excited to finish what he started and ultimately place his name on the tractor, as a memoriam to him. Why I am here, is to ask what is the best resource to go about this? Is there a good manual to buy? I need to start from scratch and go over all his steps. The wiring is not quite done, so I need to be sure I do that right. Any help you can give me, or suggestions I would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Matt

Sorry to hear about your father. I lost my Mother in May.

Many good resources, one is the [b:3662307262]9N/2N/8N[/b:3662307262] forum here on YT.

Another is John Smith's fantastic site - [b:3662307262]www.OldFordTractors.com[/b:3662307262]
Parts, ID and history information, etc.
All around a great site by a great man.

The I&T FO-4 manual is a good start. There are different versions
though. Some have about 40 pages while others are over 100.
Spend the money on the more comprehensive manual if you can't
find the originals. Originals come up on eBay pretty regular.

Here's your picture.

Welcome Matthew!

Sorry to hear of your loss.

The tractor looks to have been very well done about 90% complete. I'm glad you turned down the $500 offer! Do you have all the rest of the sheet metal?

This site has a manual, just about anything else you will need. However, as with any other site, all parts are aftermarket. They may not match the original look or quality. If you are looking for original parts, Ebay is a good source, along with many salvage yards and individuals. There is a Ford N board below, lots of knowledge and help there.

From the looks of what was done, I would just check the obvious, which bolts have been tightened, fluids, etc. On the initial start up, you will need to retorque the head, check the timing, adjust the carb, and recheck the valve lash.

Keep us informed, we'll help any way we can. Your dad would have been proud!

Sounds like someone wanted to steal your tractor at a time of grief. Good you turned them down. use manuel and you will succeed. Sure you father would be pleased.
