We were needing a rain to plant wheat this week.....but - 6.5" since 5 am...and more coming! Have seen many "tractors" sitting in 6" of water today.

That's just cruel showing water to somebody who's dying of thirst. No rain here since we had too much in one event in June.

Nothing like that here in central Kansas. Just looked and we've gotten about 2.15". Still raining lightly. Really nice rain, no real downpour, just light off and on rain. We were terribly dry also. Too late to help anything but the pastures but will make for better wheat planting.

BJ man, thanks for the locale. We're supposed to get some here in SE Iowa, but looks to be scattered and percentages and amount is dropping.

So does that put you any where near Winfield KS?? I lived in Winfield back in the early 60s. You can send some of that rain this way but not more then say 2 inch or so in 2 or 3 days LOL

2-3" would have been great......Winfield is 45 miles SE of Wichita....2.15 hrs from me. Nice town- was just there last week :)

Could use an inch in Northern Ill. if you can spare it just to settle the dust. Don't need any more like we had in July though.

It has been decades since I was in Winfield. Back when I lived there my dad taught at St. Johns college. I learned to roller skate there and took swimming lessen there. I also remember what was called Island park which was the city park. At times I wish I could just take off and visit the placed I once live at but to do so would take a lot of time and $$ and also take me to a good 15 or so states

Remind me again where you live? That's quite a ways; Holy Moley....I went to school at Sj. Johns Academy-College. :)

About an inch or so here in the Goessel (KS) area and nobody will be disappointed if we pick up another inch, especially with it coming down nice and slow like it is. We were dusty dry and this will be great for when we start sowing wheat once it dries off enough.

I now live in Missouri the Lake of the Ozarks area. My dad taught sociology and phycology. At that time that was the 5 or 6 time we had moved since I was born. From Winfield we went to a small town called Leigh NE, and lived there 3 years then moved to Athens TN and lived there about 3 years. We then moved to Cleveland MS where I graduated from high school and I join the navy in MS. While in the Navy I also moved around a whole lot

Sounds like you have seen some country- that's good....I have seen little. Your really not so far from Winfield then; What yrs did he teach at Winfield?

It would have been from around 1960 to around 1965 give or take a year or two. We moved the Winfield when I was 4 years old and left when I was 9 or 10. As for being not so far from there it is probably at least 300 miles if not 350. Which is something I am not suppose to drive any more. 100 miles and I pretty much have to stop and take a break
