My mom was in the hospital about 5 years ago.

When she was released, the Dr wanted her to have a few week in rehab.

She hated every minute of being in that nursing home, stayed in her room refused to socialize.

I asked her why she didn't go to the cafeteria.

Told me she didn't want to be around "those old people".

She was 86 at the time!

My mother drove her own car until she was 92.

Once when she was about 90, the ladies group at her church had a work day to work on quilts for Lutheran World Relief. When Mom came home, she was just furious. She said, "Those dammed old women! All they want to do is sit around and visit. None of them want to do any work".

She probably had 10 years on the next oldest one there.

And people wonder why I haven't retired yet at 82.

Last week I was out in DC at a reunion of guys I served with in Viet Nam, at first I felt like walking out of the registration/hospitality room. It had to be a bunch of WW II vets........................

sounds like my grandma. She was in her upper 80s and did the quilt and brail bibles for the Lutheran World Relief and would complain how those women were so slow! After my mom retired granny would bring boxes of brail pages for her and mom to do because the old women could not get enough done.

I used to ski with a guy was 79 I think at the time. One day we were skiing and someone asked him why he wasn't at the other local ski hill skiing with the senior skiers at a discount. He said "I don't want to ski with those old farts". I was in my 20s at the time and he would ski all day. He justed passed away earlier this year at 105.

Goose ,, Your Mom and mine must be related ..LOL,.Or at least cut from the same cloth,. went to chiropractor again yesterday ,. he is doing me a lot of good ,. but golly all those whiners in there ,,. My parents grew up thru depression ,and fought W W 2, Mother Built C-46-47 planes , Dad island hopt the pacific, neither got as husky as me, and like my parents i stayed active,. but They never had health problems like me,. Back to Jons Funny ,all the Dr's i know claim our modern foods are causing the health pitfalls,. one of the favorite whippin boy is hormone supplements and GMOs

She sounds like mine, Goose. 94 next month, still drives and doesn't want to give up the house or go to assisted living. "Nothing but old people there". She just leased a new car in June.
