OT computer HELP

My laptop got a little bit of coffee in it this morning. I didn't think it did, but this afternoon when I turned it on (I never turned it off this morning) a message comes up Boot Device not found and it tells me to hit F2 which tells me to go to hardware diagnostics and it goes thru the quick check. tells me it passed then it tells me qiick test is not installed. What I know about these things wouldn't even overload a mouses brain. I do need help with this thing--by the way it's an HP with windows 10 on it.

try to make sure it is completely dry on the inside. Remove as many covers is possible. How much coffee was spilled on to it? Find a large baggie, put the device in it and then add rice arounf the laptop. the rice will soak up water.

Too late now, but the first thing to do is unplug the charger and take the battery out!

But, hopefully the problem is in the keyboard. Go ahead and remove the battery, start opening it up, try to get the keyboard out.

Look under the keyboard, see if anything made it any deeper. If so, keep digging, try to get to the wet areas. As you unplug wire harnesses, take some pictures or make notes so they can be plugged back in correctly. It is usually obvious, but some will plug in either way. Don't want that to happen.

If the coffee was just black, you can dry everything out with a hair dryer or let it sit in the sun for a while. If the coffee was sugared, you can clean the majority off with a wet q tip.

I flushed the keyboard on mine with the sink sprayer, it was severely flooded with half sugar/half coffee thanks to my daughter...

You can spray the boards with contact cleaner, be careful not to melt the plastic or get it on the screen. Let everything dry and give it try. I saved mine and it was really soaked.

Good luck!

From experience I would avoid the contact cleaner.

Make sure there isnt any flash drives
in it on startup. That could be why it
says no boot device found.

there was creamer and no sugar in the coffee. I really don't think any got into the computer. It was closed and the only place it could have was at the battery. Took it off & all seemed dry. Nothing was plugged into it either. So I just don't know what's wrong with it. It worked fine after it was spilled on and I never shut it off. When we came home this afternoon, it was off & had the problem. Think it's time for a new laptop. I'm back on my old Sony (smaller but still works great after all these years, just don't have all the updates & can't get my pics off the other one. I may have to put in the shop for now.

No boot device means there's something wrong with the hard drive. You'll find it behind a cover in the back, probably need to remove a small screw to get to it. They just usually have a plastic tag you can tug on to pull it out.

Also try to get into the BIOS (maybe F1 while it's starting and look through the options for something like "Boot Sequence" and see if there's anything that looks like a disk drive (might say something about SATA, WDC, etc)
