fuel sending unit ford tractor

Has anybody had any luck repairing a fuel sending unit on a ford tractor? I got two of them dont work hate to spend a hundred dollars on each of them thought there might be a way to fix them. Thanks

Generally, they are not repairable.

Usually the contact point wears away and/or the resistor winding wears through. Once that happens not much can be done.

But occasionally there may be a broken wire, loose connection, even a bad ground on the tank or sender can stop one from working.

I assume you checked the float for buoyancy?

I've had the float come off the arm on my sender...twice. I have a new sender waiting to be installed now.

+1 on all counts. I just went through that since I broke my fuel gauge, sending unit was ok. They are $35 here on YT.....ensure you get the one that fits your tractor.....6 hole and locking ring mounting types are different...locking ring are smaller in diameter and thinner even though they have/may have the 6 holes......buy it from here and the two units are posted together with the what it fits posted too.
