Belt dressing

I am using a buzz saw on my Allis Chalmers to cut firewood and the 6 in. belt is slipping , is there a good belt dressing out there and who sells it. I have a spray can of belt dressing that is not doing the job.

it will work but you must stand there and spray the belt , probably use most of the can. years ago there was stick dressing that you held on the belt as it was running. how long is your belt? should have at least a 20 ft belt on there.

Watch the farm sales for a can of PulMore. Good stuff but it's no longer made. I suppose it had something in it that would ruin the environment. Dad once told me syrup, molasses ect. worked at first but would glaze and slip again.

I have some in a spray can that works really well I picked up at Attwoods farm store. I'm in my skivvies having coffee now but later on I'll get the name of it when I get to the shop; will add to this answer later. Can says spray it on and let it dry. I just spray it on while it's running and it does it's own curing. Works on lawnmower belts and my flat 6 rib air compressor belt very well. Seems one good application is all it takes. On the lawnmower belt, 3 blade 52" bought in 2005 OEM belt, sprayed it a couple of years ago because it'd slip under tall grass. Nar a problem since. New flat belt slipped regardless of how tight I got it and the unloader valve was working properly. One application and that was that.

I also use it on lawnmower tires. I run very low pressures to get a soft ride and some of the older tubeless tires have lost their plasticizers and don't seal to the rims very well. Moving the tire bead away from the wheel and spraying some of this in there does the trick in solving the slow leak problems.

On my belly mower belts when they get to slipping I use roofing tar. Makes them grip real good.

I'm gonna get grief for this, but I've used Dawn dish soap. It acts similar to syrup and I do like to use sorghum syrup, but Dawn does in a pinch. After a short time it gets tacky and pulls.
