Where is the wife?

Since we have had a long dry spell I decided that I would run a disk harrow over some of the land that I left lying fallow because of the wet spring. I did indeed get my tractor out to the fallow land and made a few passes around it when my wife showed up driving her JD gator. She motioned that she wanted to take over the tractor operation and I reluctantly let her. Now that would not be worth mentioning but my poor wife is in her late 70's [a man should never reveal a woman's age]and she would rather be driving a big powerful tractor than doing any form of housework.

I posted this after reading JD Seller's post about his 80 plus year old mother driving his big tractor and working land. It seems that you can not keep a good man, or woman from living life to the fullest.

Since I am posting this you can guess where my butt is sitting. Happy farming.

How is the farming going out there on the California road Bret? I do think it may only be 8 days without rain but this year it is a long dry spell. I hope that you were able to get enough hay for your livestock. I only put up 150 round bales and that was in the middle of July. I would be happy if I did not have any hay to harvest as I do not have any animals but then I have some hobby farmers who seem to need hay every year.

We received 2" of rain last night. Received 1.5" last month. Only 2 rains we have had all summer. Will disk up ground that was fall plowed last year and never seeded down. Still have the alfalfa and clover in the bag. Might have a good seeding next summer.
