It's raining!

81 days since the last measureable rain here in Spokane, WA. I don't think we ever went this long even when we lived in the desert sw. You know it is dry when even the bindweed turns brown!

Wow it's a huge relief once it finally starts raining
after a drought. Theres been some very strange
weather patterns this year, either too dry too wet or
disasters.

They're not using the word drought here, but sure is dry. No trouble getting the hay in dry, but sparse hay crop. Got nothing worthwhile for a second cutting. Will have enough to get by, but nothing to sell. Three fields are going to be chewed down and left to go back on the groundn starting today. Not worth harvesting. Hope the many weeds will rot down and not reseed next year. Cloudy but no rain in the forecast either.

I can tell you when it'll start raining. As soon as the corn is ready to pick or I get ready to start weaning calves.

I'll be baling corn stalks this year. I'm feeding four round bales a day to the cows, plus running some chopped corn out on the ground to them. I had about six weeks of pasture on the south side of the road this year and around two months on the north side. Things have been burned up every since. I need to get the calves pulled off and cull some cows. It's almost too late for rain to do me any good this year now.

Can't remember the last rain here in N. Ill., mowed lawn today first time in three weeks. Spring was real wet followed by floods in July, first time I had water in basement since the early 90s, don't know how it could dry out so fast.
