I was mowing today on the Cub Cadet Dad and Mom bought new when they got married in '79. It's ended up at my house now. Anyway, how many hours does this show? I'm not sure. I'm guessing 695? Am I right?

Never seen one, but I assume the white hand moves like a second hand so you know it's running. If so the yellow hand moves 60 hours with every rotation of the red hand, so it is showing 94 hours. Maximum indication would be 600 hours.

Ok, that was my thinking too. The white one
does tick like a second hand. I'm betting
it's on its 2nd time around now then because
I'm sure it has more than 94 hours. Just did
quick math in my head while mowing- an hour
a week, maybe 20 weeks a year, times 30
years would be 600ish.

Never did understand why they did that on the Quietline series. Not like they hadn't figured out how to make simple odometer style readout in the mid 1970s. Mine is now hooked up to a MTD/Cub Cadet hour meter as the original quit working around the 600 hour mark. The replacement fits perfectly in the same hole and started at "0" with the overhaul of the Kohler engine.

A new Quietline in 1979 would have been quite the expense.

Yeah we were just talking about that. Dad thought it was around $2500, but wasn't sure. Said he made payments of $60/month. Ended up being a good investment I guess though. They had rented a small farm and were raising dairy calves along with his full time job. Mom took this mower a few times when 9 months pregnant to chase calves that had gotten out. We mowed with it my whole childhood. By the time I moved out they had a 2nd mower so I took the cub with me. Now it's a backup mower, pulls my cart, and plows my driveway. Still looks good and always works. Guess my son will get it.

If its on its second time around (which it would have to be, given the age), it would be 600 + 60 + 35, or 695.

Maybe the owners manual has an explanation of how it reads ?

That has to be one of the worst designed hourmeters I have seen yet !

Have the same hour meter. The way I understand it, the one moves to show the meter is working. The other two record hours. In your case. I would guess either 155 or 755 depending on if it rolled over or not
