Currently I have a 1978 JD 4400 that has worked very well for the amount of ground I have to harvest however since I have retired and have a little more time and a little help we are thinking of stepping up to a little bigger machine. Looking at a 7720 and I know bigger barn and new/bigger heads. But that not the question: With the 4400 in wheat I speed up the cylinder to 900 or 1000 rpm and it works fine, for corn/soybeans cylinder speed id between 300 and 600 rpm. Most of the 7720s I've seen say they're corn/soybean machines AND I just had a guy tell me he ran with that in wheat. So the question is can wheat be harvested with a cylinder speed for corn/soybeans?
