Aim high in steering

That's a driving tip my dad used to tell me. Aim for a point on the horizon and drive to it. Don't just look over the end of the hood. Dad was a truck driver with a perfect safe driving record, so when he gave you a driving tip, you listened.
How do you pull a 12' bale basket down a two lane road lined with brick mailboxes at 5:30? Say a prayer and aim high in steering! Here's to you, Dad.

Good advice. If you don't look up ahead of you an accident can happen. That technique should be used when planting corn or any other driving that involves following a line. Look at the line across the field, not right in front of the tractor. Same goes for following light bar guidance systems.

I had to take this class as part of new hire orientation for Western, an oilwell service company, in 1982. Put us in COEs, pulling pneumatic bulk trailers, frac trailers, and conventional cabbed KWs with mounted pumping equipment. Funny the memories reading this brought back.

UPS teaches the Smith System. Aiming high in steering will center your vehicle in the lane if you let it. :)
