I am mowing in a field today that has hundreds golf balls through out the field. Maybe a few thousand. They must be from one of the houses on the rim of the area I am mowing. The flail mower is low enough to pick up a few and send them flying in all directions. Maybe they are worth something? Stan

few cents a piece, especially after you hit them with a mower. Can usually buy them by the bucket from people who live next to golf courses. Guy who used to live next door from my vacant property used to hit them from his back yard into my pond. :x I asked him to stop but occasionally I'd find one in the grass near the pond. Since he passed and they sold the house, nary a one. New owner is not a golfer and respects other people's property as well.

Jim, I rent the tillable ground from North Links Golf here in North Mankato, Mn. The ground is located next to the driving range and each time I perform a field operation I bet I could pickup 200 balls in 15 minutes time. Where and to whom exactly could I sell them for 50 cents? How does that work?

When we were kids we used to pick balls out of the lake next to the golf course down the road. Sold them right back to the driving range. Used to soak them in Clorox to clean them up.

I wonder what the guy would say,,(the guy that hit them all into the field) If one shot out of your mower and went thru a window in his house? He has no right to hit all those balls into the field,,but I ll bet he would try to sue?

Had a neighbor that used to hit golf balls and I would find them in my field and woods. I would put in a can and dump back in his yard. He has since moved but I still find a golf ball occasionaly.

When my son was living at home and there were elk in the field he would hit golf balls at them, 100 yards or so, if he hit one it would jump and all of the rest would come over and stare at it , noses to the ground, kinda funny, pictures somewhere.

Aside from rocks, golf balls are the number one thing I see doing custom field mowing...usually out in the middle of nowhere.

Bass will round them up and use them to line there beds with no joke... I have lived beside a golf course most of my life golf balls all over the place we don't think nuttin about it... A guy across the street sells them 100 for $10...

I read an article about a couple of guys who dove for golf balls in ponds. When they had enough gathered they would throw the balls in a clothes washer to wash them. Then they sold them by the bag of 100.

I don't know how it works to get 50 cents a ball from somewhere, But I bet my thinking's like yours . If it's right and that many balls in 15 minutes. There is more money in farming golf balls, than what you probably get from crop farming. Unless it's one of those "green cash crops" that sells by the ounce you grow and sell L.O.L .
Regards Robert

You are right about that. Almost every field I get in to has a ball or two. All I can figure is a bird picks them up, and drops them after they figure they can't eat it. Stan

A neighbor of mine whose two sons would go to Arizona and dive for golf balls at resorts. One day it all ended when one of the boys drown.

Golf course put a chemical on the grass are in the pond to kill grass they had a fish kill. The fish had took golf balls and made nice round beds you could have not laid them in a more perfect circle.
My uncles pond close to the course got a leak in the dam we drained it to repair same deal nice golf ball beds... I spec thousands a pond thousands of balls have been driven into it tho...

I am not saying its good for the pond, "Your Pond Your Rules"

If there true range balls, you'd be hard pressed to give them away. The course across the street from me has a swamp for the landing area of their range. Any ball that makes if off the t is gone. On the other hand, the course I usually play at had their 4 ponds cleaned on a couple of weeks ago. They netted 17,000 balls. Once cleaned up, they get fair money for those.

I use to do lawn jobs on the side after work. Had three houses next to golf courses. You always had found golf balls every where around the house. some time even got hit with golf balls. One house even had a very nice big swimming pool they said we always have at least 20 golf balls in the pool every day. One house claim that they had to replace a window every month due to the fact of a golf ball keeps hitting the window. Why do people pay big money to live next to these places I ask.
