So me and my father in-law recently bought a 1965 owatonna mustang series 1000 and are in the process of going through the machine are replacing bearings sprockets and adjusting clutches. The problem we are having is trying to find replacement parts for it. I've been searching the web and haven't been able to come up with anything and hoping that someone on here might know if a company still carries parts or point me in the direction of someone who would know. Thanks in advance!

I love the atmosphere of this site and have gotten a lot of tips from here for working on my Ford 8N

Have you tried your Mustang dealer? I have a couple Mustang skidsteers. Not as old as yours( 1997 & 1988), but local dealer has never been unable to get anything I've needed.

I have tried but no response from a dealer. I live in northern Wisconsin and the closest dealer is a little over an hour away. We did get lucky with a local machine shop that can get up some bearings

How did you try to contact the dealer, carrier pigeon? If you call them on the phone during business hours they can't help but respond to you.

A lot of companies are still run by "old school" people who put up websites and email addresses to look modern, sometimes under heavy protest, but have no idea what to do with them or just plain ignore them. They've probably got 1000's of email messages sitting there unanswered.

Is it right? Is it bad business? Maybe, maybe not. Not here to debate that.

The fact remains that sending them email did not work, and you NEED something from them. You have to step up your game which means CALLING them and talking to an actual human being.

I called the closest dealer and they said that they don't deal with that old of a model, and to trying calling directly to mustang. Get a hold of them and then they tell me to call my local mustang dealer so lost hope there

Gehl CO now owns the Mustang brand call them at Madison SD 605 256 1580 Gehl is now owned by Manitou Americas inc 911sw7th st

This spring I bought a Owatonna 330 skid steer. It was
somewhat neglected. I started with a operators and parts
manual from Jensales. I found out that a 330 is the same as
a John Deere 70. I found an original JD technical manual on
e-bay. That manual covers everything including color
pictures of the hydrostatic system.
Some parts are still available from a Gehl dealer. Many of
the parts are generic. I believe the pumps and motors are
made by Cessna. I bought filters and hoses from the Surplus
Center they have a good free catalog 1-800-488-3407.
The hydraulic suction filter is a big deal. It could be a
strainer or element type. It must be clean that's why they
have a gauge for it.
I ended up spending about $600 in parts but it works great
now. My hoses are 3/8" ID JIC 8F
Good luck
