I guess "price it" as -per others you may find on the net or tractor sites and get a better idea- seems cheap to me- go for it!

I worked for a man who had one of these. Had the front end loader and MFWD. Very nice running small tractor, and it was quite stingy on fuel. The 1050 tractor was made by Yanmar of Japan. This tractor is probably around 30 years old, give or take. I have read on this forum some parts are getting a bit challenging to obtain. I never cared for the PTO on the tractor with its dual stage clutch where about 3/4 of the way down, the transmission was disengaged, and the final 1/4 disconnected the PTO. From my experiences and recollection of that tractor back in the mid to late 1980's, the clutch was the weakest part of the tractor. I wasn't the only one to operate it, as there were half a dozen others. In my 6 or 7 years of working for this man, I recall the clutch had to be replaced in the 1050 twice. I don't know how those other operators were, but I know I have had no clutch issues in my own equipment or the equipment I grew up on.

I'm a BIG fan of that series of John Deere's. If I had the money I'd like to collect the complete series ! We have a 750 4x4 and it has been a great machine. One of our all time best buys.
But that being said I do think JD is not keeping as many parts for those anymore and stuff they do have is higher priced for them. They did hold up well with few parts needed. I heard those series tractors had the least amount of warranty claims of any back in the day. At first seems kinda high priced ? but I don't know the condition or hours and what all else it comes with. Might end up being worth it. I bet that is sort of a rare combo with the 4x4 and loader and backhoe. Not many 1050 around here and the ones I do see are usually only 2 wd. Power steering was an option too. Make sure it has it.
A newer machine with a hydro tranny and flatter platform would be so much more handy though than that gear drive one. Newer stuff has a lot better lift capacity too.

On parts for them I have a Yanmar 330 which is about the same tractor actually the same as the JD 950 and Hoye Tractor has most any part and they fit the JD Yanmars just fine.

I don't know how close to the same there really are ? I have compared our 750 to other sized Yanmars I have seen and the one made for JD sure have a lot beefier looking tie rods and drag links. Fortunately ours has held up GREAT and I have not needed much. (knock on wood ! )
