I've done just plain lean pork but was wondering if anybody has mixed anything in to enhance the flavor. I'm seeking advice as we are entertaining guests in a few weeks and wanted to put a little twist on things.

Take 4 lbs of pork, add 2 cups of K C Masterpiece bbq sauce and a good heavy sprinkling of Lawrey's Seasoning salt. Crush up a sleeve of saltine crackers and add that for body to hold it all together. mix well. Grill em up. They will fall apart if handled to much so don't get flip happy. Add some more KC and a bun and there ya go

We initially switched to just ground pork, but it really lacked flavor. Then she'd add burger seasoning in with it, but still something seemed lacking. So finally she asked if I thought a half-and-half mix of pork and beef would taste OK, and I said try it. At first she added seasoning, but was really strong then. Now she just mixes the pork with whatever the lowest-cost ground beef is, just a slight touch of salt, and we can't seem to get enough!!

The pork is full of flavor, but that doesn't seem to come out much when it's "just pork". Adding in 50% beef (not extra-lean) brings it to a new level. Add a slice of American cheese, sweet Hawaiian buns, and any other fixin's you like and have a blast!

Interesting that others have moved into pork substitutes also. My sweetie has digestion problems and I have deliberately gone along with her on the groceries to replace beef with pork. Buy it in the ground package like you buy ground beef. I'm amazed at how well it fits into beef recipes I always enjoyed.

On burgers, we have mixed beef and pork half and half for a tasty burger. I find that open flames with the hardwood of your choice, and getting a little charring, really enhances the flavor without adding any sugar that accompanies most BBQ sauces.

While you are at trying different things, get yourself some "Uncle Ben's" Brown Rice rather than the white you may currently be using. You'll love the flavor and it's better for you.

Try this. Cut a 1/4 inch slice of zucchini and sandwich it between two pork burgers. Throw them on the grill and serve topped with taco sauce. Yum, yum.
