Ford truck steering wheel removal

What thread is used in the steering wheel hub of a 1991 Ford F150 truck.

I'm having trouble finding a set of bolts that will hold a puller on the wheel.

I'm a bit worried that the threads have been damaged a bit by someone who probably had the wheel off before and I don't want to make it
worse.

I've looked at You Tube videos of the job, but "pulling thread" isn't mentioned.

Thanks

They are metric I am sure. I am willing to bet that some one tried using English bolts and messed the threads up. Get your self a metric thread runner and clean the threads up. I stated that like I meant it. LOL A tap will cut the threads and you will have less material. A thread runner kind of looks like a dull tap. They will tend to roll the threads back up straight over just cutting the material away.

If you can't get a puller on it, try this:

Loosen the nut, back it off to flush with the end of the threads.

Get your knees firmly against the back side of the wheel, feet on the floor. Push down with your toes, get as much upward force against the wheel as you can, then use a large brass or aluminum drift and a big hammer. Hit the end of the shaft hard and straight. It should pop loose with a couple hits.
