I've gotten a few emails telling me that the traction disconnect on an 8N is on the left.I think this picture is pretty clear it is on the right side.I would like to know who made it,and exactly how it works. It is marked,East Hernandon,Essex England.

I've never heard of a traction disconnect on an 8N. The lever on the right side looks exactly like a Howard reduction gear. Pull up is low range, and the PTO stays at full speed. Push down and it is just like an 8N without the Howard reduction gear. There is a neutral in the middle where the PTO goes but the tractor doesn't.

That could be exactly what it is.I've had a half dozen emails telling me it was a traction disconnect.I got the tractor from somebody that was calling it a live PTO.On the cover plate it does say, reduction on the top,and rotory on the bottom. The tractor also has a Sherman transmission in there too.A couple of the emails were from people wanting to buy the unit. Those people didn't explain to me what it is,just wanted to know if I was selling it.

too expect Howard, as the traction disconnect lever would be on left side.
