Glad I didn't buy eclipse glasses

It was cloudy and later rained. We weren't in the path. Will have to wait for eclipse in 2024 for a total eclipse in Terre Haute.

Though weather channel did a fantastic job. Love eclipse at Jackson Hole.

I got to see a little of it with all the clouds. I just used a welding helmet and peaked out a few times. Please send the rain south and east a little, it sure is dry here.

Pretty good show here. Was pretty close to the center of it. When the complete blockage happened we had heavy rain clouds (no rain) so that made it darker I think then normal. Before and after the sun would peak through now and then so we got a peak. It wasn't completely dark and didn't stay dark very long at all.

Here in NH it was only around 65% and if you were not informed you would never have known that it was happening. I made myself a DIY viewer with a welding lens, which I think is a #14. I looked at it from time to time. The lens filtered the light to the extent that I had no residual spot in my eye as you would get from looking at a light bulb.

Nothing but clouds and rain in south Alabama, rain started at 12:05 pm CST and still raining now at 5:17 pm

It was a beautiful sight here, although just an hour east of me there was a site that was covered by national TV and it was raining the whole time.
We had 100% eclipse here for about two minutes and they had all the school kids on the football field for viewing.
I was told that there were no human sacrifices this time. LOL!

I used mine. Was pretty neat to watch it. Was not quite a total eclipse here. I live about 70 miles south of it's path. Didn't get near as dark here as I thought it would. It did however cool off at least 20 degrees. Kind of an Erie feeling.

Never did see a complete clear sun because of the clouds but I did catch glimpses. I was surprised at how light we were with the sun 90% blocked.

We were supposed to have 83% blockage but about ten minutes before that a big dark cloud moved across the sun for the next 25 minutes. It would have been fine if it had dropped some rain but not a drop. I hope we get some rain before the next eclipse. SW MIchigan.

We got about 75% coverage here in N Texas.

I could tell it was a little dark, the temp didn't drop, but the heat from direct sun was quite a bit less, about like an overcast day.

Then we threw a virgin in the volcano, he did put up quite a fight...

The sun came back, all is well until 2024!

clear sky & 100% here in Arnold Mo. I've seen several total lunar eclipses but never a solar eclipse. Twas pretty cool. tree frogs, cicadas, & crickets were all singing & my bees returned to their hives. less than 3 minutes later it was over. from beginning to end it took just over an hour here.

we had 95+ blockage where I am in Washington State, used my old, always dark welding helmet to view it. My newer self darkening helmet didn't seem to know what to do, it flashed in and out.

100 percent in east tn. lightning bugs came out and saw a few stars. sky was clear as a bell. not quite as dark as night but pretty close

Clear as a bell in western Washington, we had 96% coverage. It was noticeably dimmer, and got colder. But it sure wasn't 96% dimmer than usual. Anybody know of a graph that shows how much the sun was actually dimmed as a function of the moon coverage?

SE PA some clouds but mostly very nice viewing of the eclipse and 76%.
Wife had bought 10 pairs of the eclipse "glasses"; just the two of us here, gave one to a neighbor.
Heavy rain later in the evening.

The eclipse was just right in north texas. It cut out about half the sun for about 20 minutes. Gave me good shade since I was working in the direct sun all day today.

Rained and Cloudy here in PeoRia, Illinois this morning but cleared up just after noon.
Watched the 93% eclipse here from 1 to 1:30 for the show. Didn't get very dark, the animals didn't go crazy but I did look at the moon/sun.
Anybody want to buy some lighty used Eclipse Glasses?

We were at our cabin on the CA border, it was very cloudy here too. We were out in the woods moving a deerstand, I had my #15 goggles along, at about 11:45 I got a clear view of the sun, hadn't started yet. Then it clouded over and seemed about like a normal gray day until about 2, by then it was a full circle sun again! Hope I'm around for the next one, I will save my goggles!

At the start of the eclipse we checked with a lightening and had 84,000Lux. During the greatest coverage the light levels dropped to 24,000Lux. Sky was slightly hazy with light overcast .

It got so dark I couldn't see to walk in the house; but that is because we clouded up and had a downpour right at the height of it, couldn't see any part of it. Was supposed to be about 85% here and with the thunderstorm it got quite dark.

Man we've had rain, 5 inches in a little over a week, much more NW of me, the river is as high as its been all year.

They said it would be about 85% here and that looked right when I viewed it about 11:20 AM through my welding helmet. No big deal IMHO! :?

I'm just up north of you Coshoo. On Vancouver Island 49th parallel. We were about 85%. It really did cool off and get dim. The Chickens went back in their pen and the crickets started to sing.
It was pretty cool. I'll see if I can post some shadows.
