Going on a road trip.

Have to go to do a run from Minnesota to Idaho in a couple weeks to pickup two M Farmalls. Will be pulling a bumper pull trailer with a 2500HD Chev and trailer with #7000 pound tandem axles licensed for #15000. Will I need to get a trip permit or am I small enough to go past the weigh stations. TIA Merle

They will not be a problem for you I don't think. If you don't want the pull over the hill east of Butte. Turn off at Three Forks MT, and cut down through to ID that way. Us-287 to Id will be about flat and is a nice run. Will bring you out just west of West Yellowstone. Then turn on US-20 to Idaho Falls. If your going to Northern Id then you will have to pull the hill.

Thanks for the reply's. Stopped in at our local weight station this afternoon and talked with them and received some very good info. Basically use common sense, normal stuff like lights all work brakes all work and safety chains, four point tiedown even two is good for the weight I'll be hauling, have bill of sale or letter stating I own them, DO NOT have a DOT# on the truck and don't even pull into the weigh stations unless the sign states all trucks must pull in.
