International hit and miss Motors

Hello all, I have recently came acrossed a chance to buy two International hit and miss Motors that are both one and a half horse a piece but neither one has ran in at least 20 years. Both are stuck and I am just curious as to what they are worth? Or if its just like scrap metal at this point?

Rustrader, How about a Stover? Its a friend of mine's and turns over freely.

all depends on your plans. if they are red engines with one flywheel they are not hit and miss engines. they would be a model LA or LB model. if it has two spoked flywheels and is green it would be the model M engine. these are worth more than the red ones. would need more info or pictures. and completeness of them. whats scrap to one person is gold to another person.

I appreciate the offer but I kinda want the international motors if they are repairable an parts are available for a fair price. Most importantly I would be trading a John Deere square baler for them valued at about $400 bucks to me. So I dont wanna trade for $75 in scrap motors if that makes sense.

I have a Stover just like the one pictured. I overhauled it and it runs GREAT. I also have the original owners manual. The sales ticket says it was bought by the White Eagle refinery for $237. I love to hear the hit/miss run.

I am curious, since a few of the guys have said the international m motor is not a hit and miss engine, what are they considered?

M internationals are throttle governed. A hit miss has no throttle plate in the carburetor or "mixer" and each time the engine hits it fires full force until the engine gets to a speed where the governor holds the exhaust valve open, then it misses until it slows down. A thottle governed engine hits every time but speed is controlled by a butterfly in the carburetor restricting air flow.

Thanks for explaining, I had no clue. I had a chance to trade for them but I actually want an IH hit n miss motor. Im lost as to what to look for and stay away from other than if its out of my budget. I appreciate your knowledge.
