Antiuqe Acres.....

Went to a show today north of Cedar Falls Iowa. It is a nice shady show with a lot of permanent buildings for it was started over 50 years ago. They have the nice steam tractors and a lot of antique machinery but what really fascinates me is the giant steam engines that are in some of the buildings. I am 6 ft tall but I look like a midget compared to the flywheels on some of these engines. That first one I am standing by came out of the old Rath packing plant in Waterloo when they sold out. The thing is neat-one side is the steam engine and the other side is the refrigeration compressor with a huge flywheel between them. The picture of the old boy in bids is neat-he made that steam engine and baler in his basement 28 years ago. He goes to shows and bales straw and sells the little bales. He feeds it by hand and I asked him if he still had all his fingers and he laughed and showed me-yes he did. We were sitting there watching the old time power parade and it was getting close to my turn to pull so we unloaded the tractor and I had to warm it up anyway so I was the last one in the parade-I followed a barn find Waterloo boy. Had a real good time! It is held every year and I would highly recommend it to everybody---Tee

Looks good Tee - Glad yer son let you warm it up !!
You decide if yer coming to the Half Century of Progress?

Heck IM STILL HERE at Antique Acres but leaving tomorrow Monday for Half Century of Progress in Rantoul IL
Nice show and friendly people, including an old friend Dan who lives near here. I took in the Deere engine works and the Museum on his advice. I was asked to give electrical seminars at next years show which I will strongly consider.

That little bailer looks like it is a smaller scale than the tractor. Those tiny bales look maybe 1/10 scale? The Kinzer show was last week and I Forgot!!!! There is another guy there, same type of set up but his bailer is much larger at 1/3 scale. I have a couple of his wire tie with wood blocks bales. Roughly 8 inch square and a foot long. OH MAN I HATE it when I forget something !!!!

Had a camping spot at Antique Acres 25 years ago when attending Two-Cylinder Expo.
Was a nice place and also fun people. Thanks for posting pictures and story. Enjoyable to see.
