Went to a show today north of Cedar Falls Iowa. It is a nice shady show with a lot of permanent buildings for it was started over 50 years ago. They have the nice steam tractors and a lot of antique machinery but what really fascinates me is the giant steam engines that are in some of the buildings. I am 6 ft tall but I look like a midget compared to the flywheels on some of these engines. That first one I am standing by came out of the old Rath packing plant in Waterloo when they sold out. The thing is neat-one side is the steam engine and the other side is the refrigeration compressor with a huge flywheel between them. The picture of the old boy in bids is neat-he made that steam engine and baler in his basement 28 years ago. He goes to shows and bales straw and sells the little bales. He feeds it by hand and I asked him if he still had all his fingers and he laughed and showed me-yes he did. We were sitting there watching the old time power parade and it was getting close to my turn to pull so we unloaded the tractor and I had to warm it up anyway so I was the last one in the parade-I followed a barn find Waterloo boy. Had a real good time! It is held every year and I would highly recommend it to everybody---Tee
