Rare Machine in Action

Thought I would post a couple of photos from our local show this weekend. The most interesting one this year was a Fairbanks-Morse 15-25 tractor. It was originally from a farm near Niagra, North Dakota and now resides in California. The new owner brought it back to East Grand Forks, Minnesota for our show this year. They had it belted up to the threshing machine and it just ran right along. Single cylinder with a 10 inch or so piston and 18 inch stroke...what a beast! I understand only 3 exist and this is one of two that are running. Cool!

What a beast. I wonder where in California it's kept? There is a large farm tractor museum in Vista Ca. Maybe it's kept there. Stan

Don't know the model number. There is a large FM tractor similar to that in Minden Nebraska at the Pioneer Village Museum. They have over 100 tractors. Some very rare.

It's fantastic! Glad you posted pics.

Man, that's dedication... to truck that puppy from CA to MN for a show. :)

Not sure how they start it up...it is just a giant hit and miss engine in a chassis from the factory. I believe it is a 1910 model. The son or grandson of the original owner was there taking videos of it...he used it as a kid. I was pretty busy driving the people mover around, so I didn't get too much chance to ask other questions. It runs on gasoline, and they said it could go all day on one tank...top speed about 1.5 miles per hour. Here is one more picture I took.

Some of those bigger engines started on compressed air blown into the combustion chamber. They had to get the piston in the right spot before they shot the air to it. Some of the big Fairbanks stationary diesels started that way.

IS THIS THE EBGINE FROM THE HART, TX SNOWSTORM DISPERSAL, THAT INCLUDED A CENTER CRANK CASE STEAMER?? IT BROUGHT $325K, THINK STEAMER ALSO WENT CAL??... BE BLESSED, GRATEFUL, PREPARED...

Don't a lot of these also run on Kero? Quite a few at the Kinzer show have that written on the side. Oil Pull units.
