Have any of you guys been to the show in Nebraska? Is it worth a long road trip? I know it would be a lot of walking. It would take at least 2 days to see everything. For me it would be a two day trip. Just wondering. I am a retired ag teacher and modern agriculture facinates me. Thanks for all info.

I have always heard about it and just wondering. I don"t think Robert is going to SALE this year.

HHD's is everything it's advertised to be. I've never talked to anyone who was disappointed. only advice i would give is take the shuttle from town.

Husker Harvest Days is a good show and one of the biggest in the region. In many ways it is very similar to the Farm Progress show (which happens a few weeks earlier and this year is in Decatur, IL) and focuses primarily on corn and grain, hay, and irrigation. As you determined it can easily take two days to see everything, especially if you spend much time watching the field demonstrations. Check the weather forecast before you go and plan accordingly - I've sweated and shivered there depending on the year. It is not uncommon to have wet conditions there which cancel the field demonstrations but the grounds are well drained.

Dad grew up on a farm, but became a preacher. I had always wanted to go with him, so on September 11, 2001 we left Omaha early. We were just about to interstate when my wife calls and says a plane had hit a building in NYC. We thought small plane, kept on going. Not too much later she calls again to say a second plane had hit a second building. NOW we turned on the radio. We kept going, not knowing how to react. There was a huge state patrol/police presence-not sure if it was more than normal as we had never been there-but it was HUGE. Grounds were virtually empty, venders with radios and TVS all had them playing the news. My farmer friend had a Kinze planter that raised and rotated for transport-I had never seen that operation. Found the Kinze booth and asked him to set it for transport-he was SO glad to have something to do! Very surreal! Came back to find my neighborhood gas station was charging $4.999 per gallon for fuel! I cant tell you if its worth the trip because we went on the one 'odd' year.

Well worth it. It rivals the State Fair, and it's all ag related.

Like someone else said, though, take a shuttle from town.
