Recently there was mention made of the Forest City Threshing show, coming up this weekend at 64917 309th St., north of Litchfield, MN, off MN Hwy 24.
It should be noted that across the street from the show, on the same days, the Forest City Stockade puts on their show and rendezvous. The original stockade was hastily constructed at the beginning of the Souix Uprising in 1862, and recreated in 1976 as a bicentennial project. While the threshing show details the mechanization of agriculture, the stockade celebrates pioneer crafts, a rendezvous, and black powder shoot.
Separate, very reasonable admissions are charged at each site, since they are two different organizations. Easy to spend a few hours at each one, and a very unique combination.
