Mouse problem

I have so many mice in my chicken pen. I have been catching around 25 a day for the last week. I set 15 traps, and check them twice a day. I thought I would have less by now, but they keep coming. Our out outside cat had to be put down a while back, but it will take more than one cat. We have so many coyotes now a outside cat will not last long. They even jump fences and grab small dogs. All I can do is keep setting traps I guess. Stan

Cut back a little on the chicken feed and they will eat them. They won't ear them less they are a little hungry. Least that's what I heard.

Kind of an odd dilemma because the only thing I know of that Coyotes are good for is eating field mice, we are overrun with them also but our cats are smarter than the coyotes, at least so far.

Get a repeating trap or make a bucket trap. Plans on internet. Maybe put a cat in the chicken coop with the chickens and don't feed the cat very much. When we had my MIL's chickens, we were overrun with mice. The cats could not get into the chicken house. After the chickens were gone, i opened up a door, and found dead mice all over the yard for a couple weeks. Wife would not let me limit feed cats, so they would not eat a mouse. Hardly ever see evidence of a mouse now days. Had rats real bad for about a year, but poisoned them and they went away.

Bucket traps could help. Set pails half full of water with a very small block of wood w/ p-nut butter and a 2x4 ladder. A water park for mice.

Chief,
Mouse and rats eat the same things animals eat. So having animals, you definitely will have problems.

I don't have animals, but I do have sheds and buildings next to a woods. I fight mice all the time. I have mouse bait and a bowl of antifreeze inside all sheds. Mice like to eat and drink. All my sheds are closed up, so no pets can get inside. So make an enclosed box so only mice can get in. Put just one bite and some party drinks inside box.
