No thanks, I'll pass on them ugly little buggers. I think I'll stick to the staples of the Midwest: beef, chicken, and pork.

There are a LOT of retention ponds on Haggerty in Novi. I just drove thru there a few hours ago. I used to live off Haggerty in Novi. Was on Novi FD for about 5 years.

Substitute the crawdads with prawn shrimp, and I'm up for a cajun boil anytime. One of my bosses was from your area, and cooked for us. New potatoes, whole garlic, corn on the cob, lots and lots of prawns, and cayenne pepper. Each batch got hotter and hotter!

Barf. I had some a few years ago, they just weren't my cup of tea. Sort of like you southerners and our Faygo we have up here lol

I never had them but sure would try them! Maybe the Florida guy could make ribs,The Adirondack case guy could bring cold genesee barley pop,SweetFeet can fry some eggplant ,CrashFarmer can make some experimental burgers,Bruce from Canada can bring pies,,and the lucky part is,,I wont have any turnips to bring,,,,were having a big Talerville picnic!!!Somebody please bring some squash,,Ultradog is invited and were gonna make him eat squash !!! Cast your vote on that idea!!!!?

(quoted from post at 21:28:52 08/04/17) Boiled bugs....never could figure out how you people could eat those things when there is real food available!

Shuck the tails, suck the heads...........depending on which direction the 'dad is facing and your dominant hand. You could suck the heads first, then shuck the tails, I believe either is acceptable.

I just can't wrap my head around the idea of sucking out the head. I was raised around hogs, chickens, and cows.

I AGREE, they have a Crawfish boil here every year put on here for the Oilfield hands ect,, the place they cook them in REEKS for weeks of those stinking nasty critters,, and if the smell does not turn your belly just walk in and watch people eating them lol

cnt

Sucking the heads is where I stop. E-too-fe or however you spell it is a little rich for my blood too. What I don't understand about Cajun cooking is that every one of them that cooked something I ate cooked it to death. For me, when it turns white (course crawdads won't but other sea food) and/or floats, it's done. I've seen a local trying to eat one cooked so hard he couldn't get the shell off it to eat the meat.

Crawfish do turn white when cooked, more than likely if the guy couldn't peel the crawfish it was not cooked long enough. What makes them right ain't really the boiling, its the soaking afterwards with the burner off.

Look good to me. Big table in the shade, covered in news paper, mayo, garlic juice, Tabasco n crackers. Good cold beer and family.

Don't get much better than that.

Grew up and have lived "up north". NY my whole life. I love those little guys ! Spent a little time in Alabama and Mississippi after Katrina. Love food like that and ate all I could before I came back home ! There are a few restaurants that have them here, but they are better fresh ! Yummy !

My Son lives in New Orleans,, they have a "boil" in the neighborhood often,,it's not for me...The only thing I found good to eat from down there is Red Fish,,,Black Angus steaks and fresh garden produce from up here is what I call "Good Eat'en"

Make it worth my time I'll wipe em out!lol tell a Cajun they can make money catching something then just move out of the way!!!!! They can be wiped out using hydrated lime but it will kill everything that lives in the water
