Smoothing out a lumpy pasture

I have retired and quit farming, let most of 25 acres reforest it's self, however I have bush hogged a 8 acre field so the grandkids could use for shooting range/golf thing and whatever. The field has a good growth of grass but is real lumpy as the eastern red clay fields usually are, ruts from previous garden/crop rows and some terraces, so I am trying to come up with a way to smooth out the plot without plowing everything under and starting over.

disking with a drag will help but I have the perfect tool. Most folks call them a Harley rake mine is a ATI tiller. What it has is a roller with carbide teeth spinning against the soil. I can set the back roller to just let the front roller catch all those high spots most time one trip will make all the difference in the world. I try to do it in the fall and spring grass comes back and ruts are gone. If you have a rental place close buy they might have such tool.

Not sure if it's what JM was describing, but there is also something called a Land Plane. However, I think it's more of a straight blade that slices the high spots down for redistribution into other areas. That way, you're only loosening up the high spots. Anything below that stays firm.

They use land planes extensively in Quebec in the St Lawrence river valley, but only on tilled ground no grass lands.

This is what I use. I use it on my yard, pastures and hay fields. I set the disc about three notches and go over it several times until it is as smooth as I want. I go length ways, width ways and corner ways at least once. More if needed.

I let rippers all the way down and set box blade to run just above ground. Really rejuvinate's clay to let air and moisture penetrate deeper.
