LED srtip light repair?

I have a 4 ft long LED light (hanging type) that is less than a year old and 1/2 of it went out instantly. Nothing obviously charred or burnt. Haven't done anything to troubleshoot other than eyeball the diodes and tracks.

Has anyone here tried a repair and if so what?

I threw away the package and don't know the manufacturer as there is no name on the "hardware". If no one has any fix suggestions, I'll just go back to Bomgaars where I bought it and se if there is something they will do.

Thanks.

They are probably like xmas lights and there are 2 "strings" of LEDs in series, you will have to check each of the bad ones to find the problem and then source a LED to replace the bad one. Unless you have lots of time to spend, probably more cost effective to just replace it.

Has been covered on here in different ways. Go buy a better set. A little more money. Down at work some smart as......bean counter did the same thing. They ended up replacing hundreds of BARGAIN bulbs.

Usually it's the power supply that fails. You will have to check for voltage where it connects to the strip. They make them that use all different voltages so I don't know exactly what you are looking for there.

Use a volt meter and check the voltage drop on each led. It should be around 2.5 V. When you find the bad one, there will be zero volts thru it. Assuming that the power supply is good.
