Starting The 444 Massey

Got a bit of video of the start up process we went through with the triple 4 Massey and Ford 6000 recently. The lighting is not the greatest in the shed in evening but the sound is all there. That old 4 cylinder (Continental?) is loud. The Ford diesel is a really smooth running engine. Had a little bit of a miss on cranking but seemed to smooth out later on.

(quoted from post at 08:57:52 07/23/17) Does the SOS hit all the gears in the 6000?

Its my brother's tractor and I'd never driven it. As far as I know all ten gears were functional. It never went far from the yard as it had a bad crown and pinion gear they did not want to trust too far or fast. It was good around the yard for lifting and digging with the front end loader.

He's not gonna answer you about those gears till the Ford is on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean!

(quoted from post at 17:43:43 07/23/17) Now we all want to see that GMC come to life! Ben
You noticed the old water truck Ben. It has not run in a few years but was in pretty good condition. It had a bigger motor out of a car transplanted into it back in the 1970s. Notice the rare and exclusive "venti-ports" on the fenders?

That was actually my brother's shed and machinery. I just happened to be there at the right time to get in on the fun. You can see that triple 4 working way back in about 1988 in this video I shot. I think I got just about every vintage tractor on the farm compressed into that video collection. Sawing wood with a 2 cylinder JD, snowblowing with Cockshutt 40, pushing dirt with the 50. And of course the triple 4 Massey pulling a one way disker.
My old tractors at work long ago

I am certain that these videos of years past provide you with cherished memories. I love the sounds that older machines make. Newer equipment does not have the character of the old tractors.
