LG Tractors

Anybody have a 45-55 HP LG Tractor or done research on them? Please tell me what you have discovered. Are they the same as the Montana and the LandTrac? Do any of the parts interchange? Same engine and transmission? I am looking for "real world" experience. Are they better than the Mahindra's without planetary front ends?

If you're concerned about the lack of the planetary front end, don't be. The bevel gear front ends hold up as well as anything. Actually, in a Kubota bevel gear front end, there is planetary reduction, and there may be in a Mahindra front end as well. For the amount of trouble that a Kubota front end gives, a Deere or CNH front end will give twice the trouble.

Add to that, I personally would be A LOT more comfortable with a Mahindra tractor than a LG. But then, I would be more comfortable with a Deere or Kubota than with either the Mahindra or LG.

I would buy the Mahindra over the LG tractors. The LG tractors have many names over the last few years. They now are LS tractors. I would be worried about long term company support with LG or LS the company just does not seem stable.

I second what JD said. If your going to keep it for a log period I would be worried about dealer support and parts. Keep it a short period I'd be worried about resale value. I learned my lesson the hard way 40 years ago with a Yanmar. I would buy a quality used, Deere, Kubota, New Holland, CIH, before for I would pay for a lesser quality New tractor. I would think your chances of parts, dealer support, and resale value would be much better. Just my opinion.
