Update on Tractor Seat

Seems the Hesston BS100RD is the same seat pan (shape and dimensions) that I found in the barn that came off my MF 35. Difference on
the new one was being new, was foam and vinyl lined, and had a spring suspension like is on most larger OEM seats, like on my 2
Fords....without the shock absorber which I have disconnected on them for a smoother ride.

Having the suspension system with a long stroke, like the Fords I mentioned, allows you to set it up for a softer ride yet not bottom out like
happens on shorter stroke springs or suspension systems.

The other thing is that the bucket cradles your behind and keeps you from
having to grasp a side mounted hand rail to stay in the seat. Height is just right for my 6'5" frame to reach the pedals without having my
knees in my chin. Plenty of leg room for getting on and off. Something to think about if you have a little guy (low hp compact tractor) and are tired of bouncing
around.

The rear of the bucket seat is high enough to support your lumbar up to about the 5th vertebrae. If you want more you would need to
go to the high back like the OEM on Ford 2000 and 3000, or just grasp the steering wheel and let your back "hang loose" grin. But for this little guy (the tractor) I don't think that seat would work for you.

Looked around and ebay had the parts. Ordered it new from from a tractor parts seller "StevenShake" Thursday and received it
yesterday....amazing. ebay puts a metric on shipping speed and suppliers heed it. Got it installed and tested today. Yepper it's a winner. Finally satisfied with the ride on this little critter.

A few pictures of it installed in my Branson 2400.

Next to the last pic shows plenty of clearance with the 3 pt full up.

Last pic shows the 2ea. ?" stud mounting for it (like is with Ford 2000, 3000 and some other full size tractors). I fabricated an adapter plate from some old steel I had lying around to fit the tractor's 4 hole landing.

I have a Kubota 2370 that I wish I could find a suspension or air ride seat that would fit. The original seat is comfortable enough but the foam is pretty firm and I don't weigh much and bounce a lot, kills my back. Have checked with dealer and online and can't come up with any thing so far. I can find a suspension I could probably get my seat mounted to, but would make seat too high.

I had the conventional tractor seat. I know what yours looks like as I saw plenty of standared Kabotas (and others) for sale on ebay when looking for a seat. That seat has the same problem as my OEM seat which is height. Back a few days ago I posted and listed where I had been on this reseat thing and height was always a problem, even with the air seat.

What works about this seat is that it's low profile but has the full range suspension springs mounted behind the seat. This allows for low mounting yet giving you the full use of a long stroke suspension system which you need for low tension (for a soft ride) but enough length to keep from bottoming out.

I supplied enough information with my original post, back about Wednesday of this week.....looking for information on a Bucket Seat and what I showed today that you ought to be able to come up with your own fix. The whole intent of my posting the way that I did was to share my experiences with other folks whom I know full well are a lot of you out there with the same problem with light tractors and big stiff tires.

Couple more shots showing how much room is available. Plenty of room to get in and out, even with my height plenty of height to get to the pedals but the steering wheel is comfortably available.

First pic is feet on the floor.
Second is right foot on left brake pedal
3rd is looking down showing the position of the wheel and clearance to get in and out.

Only thing I had to do was to fabricate a 3/16 steel plate shown as the last shot in the first posting with 4 holes for mounting to the tractor seat mounting surface and 2ea ?" studs (bolts I stuck through holes from the bottom and welded to the plate) for mounting the seat.

Seat plus shipping will run you about $130-140 on ebay for a reference. Guarantee you the best money you ever spent if your back means more to you than your wallet and the best money I spent on fixing this problem of all it cost me looking for a workable solution. Letting your tire air down as far as reasonable for your application is part of the process and yes wheel weights help too but the seat.....Wink!
