ford 2000 transmission

I was here back in Jan. to ask about the front trans. seal on a 69' ford 2000. I took some great advice and replaced the seal. Only used it a few times in the spring and all of a sudden it
started to leak again. I'm pretty sure I did a good job replacing the seal cause I sure as hell didn't want to have to do it again. But, it looks like I will have to. Any info on what
could possibly cause this to happen. Thanks!

One time my brother owned a 2000 that leaked from the front of the transmission. The oil dripped out the weep hole at the bottom of the bellhousing. He had it split and cleaned up and asked me to put the seal in,which I did.We reassembled it and he went to using it and the leak reappeared. So the 2nd time he disassembled it,I told him not to clean anything before I looked at it.It turned out to be a welch plug in the top area of the bellhousing that covered a hole for one of the shift rails that was the leak.Besides labor,it was a.50cent fix.Mark

Thanks a million Mark. I will make note to check that when I pull it apart this winter. Again, thanks!
