Might be some hope for sears

I just don't understand that. It's just a brand name. Sears doesn't have a factory that builds anything. You'd think that acting as a middle man,Sears would only raise the price. Just one more link in the chain that needs to make a profit.

I think it will be another nail in the coffin, everyone (except me) wants to buy everything online cutting out the retail store, I guess we turned full circle to the days of the MW Wards and Sears catalogs.

The brand name companies are making them. Why not buy an Electrolux or something and just sell that instead of adding a middle man?

I agree, today. The sears of old made it possible to get parts that I otherwise couldn't find. You could find a part for a Sears chainsaw or lawnmower when you couldn't for the identical Poulan (who made the sears saw). Nowadays you can probably find the part elsewhere, but that was some value that Sears added, back in the day.

Because the existing supply chain is a complex, hard to re-create, thing of value.

Agreed, WGM.

I find it convenient to call the Searsparts 800 number to order parts for my old Sears stuff.

Never had any problems.
