I was wondering if we all could figure out the average age here on t talk,If we all tell our age,and in 24 hrs we calculate the average, would that be close? Ill start,,Im 61 gonna be 62 in october,,////

I'll paste my Tales reply here:

Soooo old, I had a senior moment and forgot my age... and had to use a calculator.

53............ BUT don't see how that's really possible! I always think I'm like 39 - until I hit the deck in the morning feeling like an arthritic snake. LOL

82.

I had it easy in school. They didn't teach History because nothing had happened yet.

62. I see the younger folks on here, but most of them don't comment much. Probably still working....

A related question - how many are still working full time, how many part time, and in what industry?

71. That was a great question. I'm glad to see so many youngsters in their 40's to carry this tradition on.

68 from February. Life Long tractor friend. I watched my dad unload a new 53 Stage I Super H and help load a 10-20 as the trade in. I was in love. Jim

52 in June. Own two tractors older than I am. Still working, planning for ten more years of that.

I calculated my "cylinder index" the other day, and, not counting the kids' cars in my name, I am 1:1 with my age.

21 years and counting working in diesel engine research, most of the the time 7 days a week and farming 500 acres of grain plus hay, livestock and 5 kids from 1 to 15 years old.

The median age could be 5 to 15 years higher than the average age. Participation seems to drop off much above 80. The members in their teens to forties will skew the average down a lot. That's not a bad thing at all, the younger members are very important. Median and average can be very different.

Retired last August. 36 years in the oil patch. 28 years of it overseas. Before that US Army.

62 from April.
Looking through all replies it seems to me there are many 62'ers.
My Dad used to say: You are from 2 years after the Flood (Watersnoodramp of 1953, which had a great impact on his life).

70 last March. Worked as a lineman for 33 years as well as operate 12 acres of apples and pears. Retirement is just the orchard and playing with toys. My toys started out with my dads 47 VAO CASE. Now it is anything CASE and anything old. My wife says it's getting our of hand,
Dave

I am 57 years old. Starting restoring cars when I was 16 years old. Had a smog and installers license Cal. at age of 18 years old gave it up in two years because of parents where against it. Parents where against me taking trade school and had to drop Automobile mechanic trades because of having to work for living. Instead became a Custodian for a school District but still kept on in Restoring old cars like G.M. products and Fords. Than in 1994 went in to tractors and fell in love with them. I am now retired from the School District and plan to roll in to full time tractor restoration work. Every thing I have learned on tractors have been hands on and some times doing it the hard way. but I have learned a lot for this web site and the books I buy and read. I enjoy this yesterday tractors site.

Turned 62 on Tom T Hall's birthday. Dairy till 2008 and had successful barn fire. Crops and hay now and keeping all my old stuff going and rebuilt.......Ron

I think this is the longest post I have even seen on Y-T. That said I am 61 and will turn 62 on Jan 5th of 2018

I seen a pic on FB one time that I thought of posting on here, it said this is an old pic of me, was a swimmer to the momma's egg! Then though might get the boot for that one! LOL

Well, the Adirondack Case Guy,
bcdave
Pete Black
TominGa
PaGlenn
Dcarp
and I all are the same age! 1946 was a very good year!

I turned 49 in June. Work 4/10s as a construction lineman. That gives me 3 days to be a farmer, actually 30 minutes to farm, the rest of the time is spent working on my equipment. Seems most of my stuff came out of other people's fence rows. I love this site. My wife calls it my tractor porn I help when I can and learn when I need to

74
Born Friday the 13th day of Nov.in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred forty two, one hour after the five Sullivan Brother were killed, me being of the same name. Served under three Presidents, two good one not so good.

I am 78 and me and a lot of other folks wonder how I ever got this far. LOL Retirement is great and life is good at this point.

looks like 73 is the number ever one likes.. 73 it is for me... figure the average will fall around 64 or so But is a conservative bunch for sure..

70 Got one tractor as old as I am, and 3 younger than I am. Retired 44 years in the auto parts business with NAPA. Yeah I know that mean old parts man that some on here hate. Hope all is going well with you Larry. Get well soon.

So far we have 13,946 accumulated years of experience on this post. Larry, I'll leave the averaging up to you since this is yours.

will be 64 august 6th.april 3 2012 I dropped dead.ended up disabled, chest still hurts like hell.once in awhile I get in the mood to work on w9 a few minutes.after this hot spell gonna try to pull it to start.hope I have enough strength to drive it.good to see that 15yr old on here.

I've never put my age on the 2 ag/tractor forums I visit.

Always figured it was kinda fun for people to wonder, from what I say, if thry think me older or younger. I do know I'm not wiser, either way. ;)

Paul

It was suggested that this thread was getting so long that the page was timing out, so I'm here to test it... 63, same age I am on Site Comments.

I'm 24 now or 25 in a couple months....didn't we do this a few years back and the average ended up being around 53. I think who ever did the math even had a chart breakdown for teens, 20-30s, 30-50's and 60plus (or something close)

I've been about 40 for a long time but after spending three weeks in the hospital and home bed rest (two surgeries) I'm feeling much closer to the 66 I actually am. Still working on getting back to work full time but right now I'm completely worn out after just working afternoons.

I'm 65, I'll be 66 on Christmas. Probably have to keep working till my child bride turns 65. Chris

76 on August 3. Pre-war, Depression-era baby. (Don't know when the Depression ended, but my family was in it pretty much all my life.)

31 for a couple more weeks. Drive truck and work road maintenance/construction for day job. Repair work as side job every night.

Ross

I'm turning 31 in 3 weeks... Been coming here since I was 12 (1998). Couldn't get away from this place after all of the nice people over the years, all of the knowledge I have gained.. Both tractor related and not. Can't thank everyone enough. I used to go by the handle 'FarmallCaseKid'... Since then I have just started using my name. Guess no one ever gave me a nickname, so it seemed fitting. Lol! (Don't get any ideas)!

I am sure I have missed a couple while typing this up:
I don't believe the 111 year old I think it was a joke. Putting Bears Age at 56 instead of 8 would go this way:
Average Age:59.5871
Median Age: 62 (for those that don't know put all of the numbers in order then select the middle number)
Putting Bears age at 56 and discounting the 111 year old.
The youngest is 15
The oldest is 88
The ages that are not represented between those ages:16,17,19,22,26,27,28,81,84,86,87
At this measurement there were 242 ages represented.
That is enough fun with numbers.

ok I couldn't stand it given my previous numbers:
I believe the average is: (drum roll please)
59 years
214 Days
10 Hours
30 Minutes
8.64 Seconds
or 21704.1 days.

I am 61-will be 62 in 3 weeks.Retired truck mechanic after 40yrs,and now work a part time job working on tractors,and have a 56 acre farm.Mark

I always wonder why people say" I will be such an age". Are they not sure about the current age or are they trying to appear older?

Usually because the birthday is comming up very close. For me it is 50 days yet Being just shy of the birthday can be a big difference from being just past the birthday. I am 73 and getting notices about things I need to do before my birthday like get my licence tags and just renewed drivers licence.

63 and planning on living forever, but on the other side one day where the water flows freely and no more weeds to fight. Oh yes and I will see clearly all things without these pesky glasses.

57 last month.....

Slowin' down in retirement. Just fool around with old tractors, fabricate/weld, run a few head of cattle, volunteer firefighter/emt, family mechanic and when I have time ride my Honda Valkyrie.

I am 39 years old not even close to old enough to have the wisdom most of you guys have that's why I mostly read most treads every day just to gain wisdom I am self employed you could say on a family farm I just run stuff mostly and make very few of any big decisions

60 and feel like 30 ranging to 90 on days. been infatuated with old tractors since about 5 years old. was amased at that big flywheel going around on the john deere D and watching dad start the W30 by turning the pulley by hand. i have started mine many times this way and say this is for u dad!

I've been told by those that supposedly know that I'm 56 for another 3 weeks. But since I've been through three 100 year ice storms, two 100 year floods and a I think a 500 year flood, that along with the way I feel some mornings I'm beginning to wonder if I'd been boatswain's mate on Noah's ark and just forgot.

74. Didn't realize so many here are youngsters. Farming must mature a person early.

Didn't get in on the orig survey but I'm 56--don't look much older than 54-55, though
